Dennis Rodman's fall from celebrity was the focus of a New York Times Magazine piece Sunday.
Rodman lives in Newport Beach, Calif.
"Welcome to Rodman's Reef," Rodman shouted to Times writer Stephen Rodrick. "Welcome to my crazy world. Put your tape recorder away and have a beer and write anything you want. One rule: You gotta match me drink for drink. (Seriously) Just please don't say I'm an idiot."
Rodrick notes that Rodman has "no endorsements, no public appearances and few prospects."
In Rodman, Rodrick sees a classic story.
"Rodman's collapse is classic American overexposure," Rodrick wrote. "Call it the Action Figure Syndrome. . . . It's a sign that America has made your acquaintance, fallen in love and gorged on your image. And we all know what happens in romance and marketing: boredom followed by contempt."
